First Republican Congressman Raises The Possibility Of Trump Impeachment

in News/Politics by

On Tuesday evening, the New York Times dropped a bombshell that is reverberating through the Republican Party this morning. According to the Times, the president asked FBI Director James Comey to stop investigating former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn (who is also an actual foreign agent) during a meeting at the White House. Shortly after the meeting Comey documented the president’s request in a memo and shared it with other agents. The paper reported:

The documentation of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia.

Some Democrats immediately started calling for the president to be impeached, but Republicans had stayed relatively quiet–until now. The Hill reports:

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Wednesday said reports that President Trump pressed ousted FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation would merit impeachment if true, becoming the first Republican lawmaker to broach the idea.

Asked by The Hill if the details in the memo would merit impeachment if they’re true, Amash replied: “Yes.”

“But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,” Amash added as he left a House GOP conference meeting.

Amash went on to say that Comey has far more credibility than the president of the United States, a shocking confession from a Republican.

It’s no wonder the White House is in a panic, they have finally realized that they are absolutely f*cked. Trump will be speaking at a commencement ceremony this afternoon and it will be interesting to see if he is going to lose his shit on stage. I am getting my popcorn ready.
