Instead of celebrating Pride weekend, the Trump administration decided to go a different route. Instead of attending a march or two, V.P. Mike Pence made an appearance at a Focus on the Family event. FOF is an extremist right-wing group that operates under the guise of traditional family values.
Per their site:
Focus on the Family is a global Christian ministry dedicated to helping families thrive. We provide help and resources for couples to build healthy marriages that reflect God’s design, and for parents to raise their children according to morals and values grounded in biblical principles.
So, basically, Focus on the Family is a religious cult that teaches God’s model of Adam and Eve is correct, not Adam and Steve. Apparently, indoctrination starts young in this group. “Biblical principles” just mean that men are superior beings, women should do as they’re told and homosexuality will get you a one-way ticket to Hell. Got it.
In his address to the gathering, Pence called on the group to start participating in politics again, especially in regard to “Trumpcare” that would drastically cut the funding for Planned Parenthood. Pence made it clear during his speech that the new healthcare bill would help defund the abortion provider.
Pence is the first VP to address a gathering hosted by Focus on the Family – proving that he is the most homophobic VP ever. I still say he protests too much. But that’s just me.
The founder of FOF, James C. Dobson, is a nutjob, too. He created FOF to reject reproduction freedoms for women, oppose sex-ed in schools except for abstinence-only programs and to fight to rid schools of curricular materials deemed inappropriate like multiculturalism and anything it has determined to promote the so-called “gay agenda”.
According to Dobson,
Tolerance and its first cousin, diversity, are almost always buzzwords for homosexual advocacy.
Ummmm. How about that? Who knew that tolerance is likened to sin with these idiots? These people never fail to shock and awe. I thought tolerance was the first step to loving everyone – you know, the whole Golden Rule idea? Do unto others and all that?
Free speech is a wonderful freedom. We are thankful for it every day in America. However, when that freedom is used to stifle others’ freedom, it is no longer considered a right, but a tool to oppress. Oppression seems to be the buzzword for these groups – very unpatriotic when you think about it.
