It happened, Trump grades Lester Holt’s performance down for everything Trump did wrong.
We knew it was coming: Trump has decided that the debate moderator was a big ol’ meanie head. While commiserating with Bill O’Reilly, Trump whined about the whopping 41 times he was interrupted by Lester Holt during the presidential candidates headlong rush to monopolize the debate.
It seems that Donald Trump doesn’t know that it is a moderator’s job to make you stop talking when it is someone else’s turn. It is a tough thing to learn, taking turns — any first grader will tell you so.
Trump says that he thought Lester Holt did well, initially, but “many people” thought he did horribly. And upon review, Holt did poorly. Why? Because he fact checked Trump and interrupted him.
Sadly, Trump repeated his own lies AGAIN, despite fact checking, that Stop and Frisk in New York worked. He literally used Lester Holt’s fact-checking him on it as an example of Holt doing poorly. Trump then said that it “turned out” that he was totally right about Stop and Frisk, despite his claims being well-known lies.
He whined that Hillary was treated better and gave Holt a low grade of “C” because Holt challenged his lies.
Here's an amazing stat: Clinton spent over half her speaking time last night having already been interrupted by Trump earlier in the answer.
Trump interrupted Hillary 39 times, Hillary only interrupted Trump 9 times. Holt interrupted Trump 41 times getting him back on schedule and fact checking yet only interrupted Hillary 9 times… perhaps it is because she knows how to take turns?
Rachel Maddow just leaked a massive blow to Trump’s campaign.
Thursday is going to be a very interesting day for Donald Trump because Newsweek is about to drop yet another bombshell on Trump’s campaign. Information has become available on how Donald Trump’s company violated the United States embargo against Cuba.
Rachel Maddow has advanced information from the story, and it just doesn’t look good for Trump. Especially not on the heels of his painful to watch debate loss.
The more we dig into Trump’s past and business connections, the clearer the picture becomes. This is a man who will do anything to profit. This is a man we already have very real concerns about because we know that as president, should he win, he is in a position to benefit himself even more. There is nothing about him or his past that shows he won’t.
We already know that once he has profited, he believes that defrauding the country that he owes his success to is “smart.” He takes what he can get, then gleefully absconds with the money owed back to the community in the form of taxes to improve infrastructure and education. Then he bitches that we have bad infrastructure and education. He blames “government spending” and Hillary, (who pays her taxes) not himself, for it. He is a millstone around the neck of the middle class.
Now, we are told that he will not only just “bend the law” to steal tax money from school children: he may have broken a UNITED STATES EMBARGO just to profit from it.
His solution to earlier revealed shady business deals, entanglements and frightening leverages that would be against him as president was to have his kids run his businesses. It was novel, but no solution. What will he say to try to assure the United States that his previously illegal profit seeking and (totally legal loophole) tax evasion isn’t a predictor for the way he will run our country?
If this is true, it destroys any tenuous credibility his business empire may have given him. It is much easier to get rich when you cheat, break the law, and don’t pay taxes than if you have to actually be good at what you do.
NPR just fact checked the hell out of those “winning” polls of Trumps.
From the moment that Donald Trump began posting his absurd brags of winning the presidential debate, many, many people began expressing their concern that they were somehow in an alternate reality. Turns out, Donald Trump was: he lost, and he lost badly, despite his refusal to admit it.
Donald Trump lost the debate on Monday, clearly, cleanly, and by basically all objective measures: sportsmanship, truth telling, content, and yes, even temperament. However, even as fact-checkers would work through the night to try to handle the sheer volume of lies Trump began to post poll after unscientific poll declaring himself the winner.
Simply put, Donald Trump’s loss was so violently clear that the thought that ANYONE, let alone overwhelming majorities of people, could have seen it as a win for him was enough to cause loss of faith in humanity.
Well, you can comfortably and calmly swallow that bile. NPR put Trump’s nightmare scenario that our fellow Americans were insane enough to think bragging and whining “wins” a debate to bed. Some were, but then again, some are voting for him.
From NPR, (emphasis mine):
Many of the results he cited came from very Trump-friendly sites, such as Breitbart News and the Drudge Report. Some of these polls were shared by Trump supporters on reddit, encouraging people to go vote. These were not selective samples with any merit, and in no way could they accurately measure whether the more than 81 million people who tuned in for the debate thought Trump did better than Hillary Clinton.
The NPR story got into detail, most of these “polls” were simply traffic producing tools with no safeguards to keep people from taking them as many times as they wished. No way to see who was responding, what party, where they live, if they were even in the country. They were literally and truly just “click counting.”
When the real polls began coming out showing a clear Clinton victory, these “Flash polls” were already out there drawing attention and boggling minds. They muddied the water, giving the rabid Trumpers something to grab onto. They needed it, Trump’s actual performance was dismal, even according to conservative pundits.
From the NPR article:
In fact, actual scientific polls have shown that Clinton was the clear winner on Monday night. A CNN poll just after the debate showed 62 percent of voters thought Clinton had the best performance, while just 27 percent said Trump did. …
A Politico/Morning Consult poll also gave Clinton the win, 49 percent to 26 percent. Another survey, from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, also found Clinton won by 11 points, 51 percent to 40 percent. A two-day poll from Echelon Insights found that 48 percent of registered voters thought Clinton won the debate, while just 22 percent thought Trump did.
There is very clearly people that saw the debate differently than most people did, they have been Trump supporters and will continue to be Trump supporters. Facts, reason, data, truth: all of these are subjective to them.
Just remember, as Jessica Taylor for NPR pointed out: the flash polls in 2012 showed Ron Paul “won the GOP debates by wide margins,” yet, he was never President or even the nominee.
Donald Trump will need to cling to these little false victories. Especially in light of the fact that 538 has written that it appears that not only did Hillary Clinton win the debate, it may just translate to a post-debate bounce in the polls. Something that seems pretty reasonable. Since Tuesday, Real Clear Politics has also shown a rally in Clinton’s numbers.
It would seem such an overwhelming “Trump win,” would not look like this:
Maybe next time, the FBI should investigate if Hillary was ever grounded as a teen? How about sent to bed with supper as a 8-year-old?
I can only assume that Trump’s utter destruction during Monday night’s debate has rattled Republicans. It’s the only thing that explain the sheer stupidity of what Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH.MY.GOD.) said on Wednesday while he was whining that Hillary Clinton…broke her college honor code!
The set up: Chabot is very disappointed in FBI Director James Comey, and while grilling him over the who-gives-a-crap-anymore email “scandal”, Chabot brings up that they both went to the College of William & Mary which has an honor code: “As a member of the William and Mary community, I pledge on my honor not to lie cheat or steal either in my academic or in my personal life.”
Here’s what it says, “As a Wellesley College student, I will act with honesty, integrity, and respect. In making this commitment, I am accountable to the community and dedicate myself to a life of honor.” Let me repeat part of that again, “I will act with honesty.”
Get it? Because she’s not honest! She broke her honor code! How can she be president if she’s not honest?
Chabot goes on for a bit and beats a dead horse a little more to no avail.
But aside from the fact that Hillary is demonstrably far more honest than most other politicians, there’s the hypocrisy of Mr. Honor Code openly supporting Donald Trump:
“With so much at stake, I think we need a President who believes in smaller government, a stronger military and greater personal liberty and responsibility,” Chabot said in an emailed statement. “In my opinion, Donald Trump’s approach to these important issues is far superior to Hillary Clinton’s. And therefore, I think he is the better choice for our next President.”
Since Trump’s sociopathic lying is indisputable, one is forced to wonder why “dishonesty” is only a deal breaker for a Clinton presidency? I’d say that Chabot should pay more heed to his own honor code but Republicans have their honor surgical removed when they’re sworn into office.
Donald Trump didn’t have a very good night at his first one-on-one showdown with Hillary Clinton. The Republican presidential nominee made a complete ass of himself on the stage. He lied about nearly every one of his stances, he repeatedly interrupted Hillary, disrespected moderator Lester Holt, complained that Hillary was mean to him in ads and immediately after the debate he started whining. Basically, his performance was exactly what we expected it to be and millions of people are laughing at the bombastic self-declared billionaire including another reality tv star, Jerry Springer.
After the debate was over on Monday night and the media was beginning to spin, former Cincinnati mayor and the host of arguably the trashiest show on t.v. summed up Trump’s debate failure with two perfect sentences:
Hillary Clinton belongs in the White House. Donald Trump belongs on my show.
HAHA! He’s spot on. Donald Trump didn’t exhibit any qualities that proved him fit to run this country last night or, really, in any of the days leading up to the debate. He has insulted women, calling them fat pigs and slobs. He has insulted Mexicans, calling them rapists and criminals. He has insulted immigrants, saying they are destroying America. He has insulted African-Americans, claiming they are living in slums and are in the worst shape in American history. He has insulted Muslims, implying that they are all terrorists. He has insulted President Obama, for years saying that he wasn’t an American citizen. He has called on his supporters to beat people at his rallies, claimed former President Bill Clinton is a rapist, is supported by white nationalists and white supremacists. He kept a campaign manager around for months after he assaulted a woman and then hired an openly racist man to help coordinate his campaign. He has made creepy comments about his daughter. The list goes on and on.
Donald Trump is a terrible human being and he definitely does not belong seated behind the desk in the Oval Office. Jerry Springer is right.
After 90 torturous minutes of Donald Trump flailing about, the Republican presidential candidate was tired, angry and petulant (a word that more than one news outlet has been using). After months of attacking Hillary Clinton over her health and stamina, Trump looked worn out and listless while Hillary looked ready to go give a speech (which she actually did several minutes after the debate ended).
But at no point did Trump look and sound more like a cranky child up past his bedtime than at the end of the debate when he literally started to whine about how mean Hillary Clinton has been to him:
But she’s spent hundreds of millions of dollars on negative ads on me, many of which are absolutely untrue, they’re and they’re misrepresentations, and I will tell you this, Lester, it’s not nice, and I don’t deserve that, but it’s certainly not a nice thing that she’s done.
“it’s not nice, and I don’t deserve that, but it’s certainly not a nice thing that she’s done.” Boohoo? No, seriously, a grown man running for President of the United States went on national television and complained that his political opponent is mean to him. This is the man who will face down our geopolitical rivals?
Will he wag a finger at China when they say bad things about America? Will he stand up at the UN and tattletale on Iran? Will he launch an airstrike again Libya because they hurt his wittle feelings?
This is a thin-skinned man-child manifestly incapable of being president.
Donald Trump has had a rough evening in his first debate with Hillary Clinton. But one of his roughest moments came when he decided to come out strongly in support of a policy that has been declared unconstitutional — “stop and frisk.”
Trump said that stop and frisk was responsible for lowering the murder rate in New York City, and that it should be used again, on a wider basis, in cities like Chicago. He wants to take guns away from people he says shouldn’t have them. Who are those people? He identified them as gangs, and illegal immigrants, “many of whom have guns.”
Moderator Lester Holt pointed out to Trump that stop and frisk was ruled unconstitutional, because it involved racial profiling. And Trump actually confirmed, by identifying the people who shouldn’t have guns, that racial profiling is exactly what he wants to do. But he told Holt his statement that stop and frisk was ruled unconstitutional was wrong. He said,
It went before a judge who was a very against police judge. It was taken away from her. And our mayor, our new mayor, refused to go forward with the case.
August 12, 2013 — In a landmark decision today, a federal court found the New York City Police Department’s highly controversial stop-and-frisk practices unconstitutional. In her thorough, 198-page ruling, Judge Shira Scheindlin found the NYPD’s practices to violate New Yorkers’ Fourth Amendment rights to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures and also found that the practices were racially discriminatory in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
Later in 2013 a federal appeals court blocked Judge Scheindlin’s order requiring the NYPD to make changes in the stop and frisk program, and they removed her from the case. But the court rejected the city’s request to vacate her orders. The Bloomberg administration appealed, but the de Blasio administration dropped the appeal.
The short of it? Stop and frisk was ruled unconstitutional. That ruling was not vacated or overturned, therefore, stop and frisk continues to be unconstitutional. Trump has no idea what he is talking about.
Here’s Trump’s passionate defense of an unconstitutional policy, via YouTube:
Well, the first presidential debate is now over and Hillary Clinton performed exactly as we expected: like a boss. Donald Trump tried to act calm at first but it wasn’t long before he melted into a orange ball of rage. Near the end of the debate, the Democratic nominee hit Trump with something that annoyed him so much that he decided to go on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning to “explain” it away. However, in typical dumbass fashion, the Republican nominee ended up doubling down on his douchebaggery.
During the showdown, Hillary hit Trump on his sexism,”This is a man who has calling women pigs, slobs and dogs and someone who has said pregnancy is an inconvenience to employers, who has said that women don’t deserve equal pay unless they do as good a job as men.” She continued:
And one of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest — he loves beauty contests, supporting them and hanging around them — and he called this woman ‘Miss Piggy,’ then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping’ because she was Latina. Donald, she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado. And she has become a US citizen and you can bet she is going to vote this November.
Trump was so annoyed over the statement that he gave an interview to Fox News where he tried to explain his misogyny away…and failed:
She was the winner, and she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem. We had a real problem. Not only that, her attitude, and we had a real problem with her, so Hillary went back into the years and she found this girl. This was many years ago, and found the girl and talked about her like she was Mother Teresa and it wasn’t quite that way, but that’s OK. Hillary has to do what she has to do.
HAHA. Trump actually just proved Hillary was 100 percent right when he is trying to dispute what she was saying. Oh and the “massive amount of weight” he claims former Miss Universe Alicia Machado gained? Just 15 pounds according to her. Machado told Inside Edition that Trump called her “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping,” because she is Latina. It made her feel “so fat” that it made her “very depressed” and she suffered from eating disorders for five years after she was publicly humiliated.
Trump give as many interviews as he wants to try to explain why he treated this woman so badly but nothing will ever excuse it. He is a deplorable human being who has no business serving this country.
Donald Trump got up on the stage expecting to manhandle weak little Hillary and found out what it’s like to get bitch-slapped by a pair of steel ovaries.
First impression? That. Was. Hilarious!
Donald Trump got up on the stage expecting to manhandle weak little Hillary and found out what it’s like to get bitch-slapped by a pair of steel ovaries.
At no point did Hillary lose control of the debate. Her answers were thorough and well-considered. She tossed out facts like confetti and fact-checked Trump several times, much to his irritation. Hillary even knew when to step back and let Trump self-immolate.
On the other hand, Trump was a hot mess. He rambled, he lied, he ranted and he got visibly angry, a big debate no-no. He tried to bully Clinton several times but backed down when she simply raised her voice a bit and kept talking. He manged to get in a few zingers but most of them felt too rehearsed and fell flat.
Fortunately, Clinton did not try to land a lot of zingers or bumper sticker slogans because that’s not really her thing and it would have been awful. I winced at “Trumped up trickle down” but that was really it. The rest of the time, she hammered him with his own words and policies.
This is not an unmitigated disaster for Trump even though he was clearly unprepared in every conceivable way to face an opponent of Hillary’s caliber. I imagine his debate prep team is thankful he didn’t stroke out. I also image that Republicans all over the country are drinking very heavily right now.
What WILL be a disaster for Trump is if he flies into a rage over how “unfair” the whole thing was. And god help him if he refuses to debate again. He will look like an absolute coward and since his entire persona is about being strong, that would be a fatal move.
Meanwhile, Hillary is laughing her ass off at how easy that was. You could even tell she wasn’t putting her full effort into crushing Trump, most likely to avoid generating sympathy for him. Hopefully, assuming Trump doesn’t chicken out, she won’t get cocky for the next debate. Not that she should worry too much; it’s not like Trump is suddenly going to study and prepare. He’s WAY too lazy for that.
I suspect tomorrow’s headlines will be about how badly Trump lost but how it doesn’t change anything (if Hillary had lost, it would “the end of her campaign”). Still, look for Hillary’s lead to open a bit more over the next week and if she whoops him two more times like this? It’s a wrap.
Maine Governor Paul LePage is on a quest to prove to America that he is not a racist by inadvertently proving he is. Earlier this year the governor came under fire after he said that 90 percent of the accused drug dealers arrested in the state since January were either black or Hispanic. The Tea Party dumbass assured the public that he had a 3-ring binder that would totally prove this and promised to release it to the media.
Well, the day of LePage’s binder revelation has finally arrived and shockingly, his evidence does not support his claim. The binder contains 93 offender photos, of those photos it appears that only 37 of them are black or Latino, the other 56 look as white as Governor LePage. That means that roughly sixty percent of the alleged drug dealers who were arrested are Caucasian and 40 percent are minorities. I don’t know about you but I just can’t seem to nail down the LePage math method. No matter how many ways I write the problem out, 40 percent just will not equal 90 percent.
When LePage was asked about the disparity, his office claimed that he wasn’t talking about ALL of the drug dealers, he was specifically talking about heroin dealers. So let’s take a look at what he said:
“Let me tell you this, explain to you, I made the comment that black people are trafficking in our state, now ever since I said that comment I’ve been collecting every single drug dealer who has been arrested in our state,” LePage said. “I don’t ask them to come to Maine and sell their poison, but they come and I will tell you that 90-plus percent of those pictures in my book, and it’s a three-ringed binder, are black and Hispanic people from Waterbury, Conn., the Bronx and Brooklyn.”
Hmmmm….I see nothing about heroin there. It seems as if Governor LePage has as difficult a time with English as he does with the maths. He really should just give it a rest, put his sheet on and admit that he is a flaming, unadulterated racist because at this point he’s just embarrassing himself with his bullshit excuses.
